St Gabriel’s RC Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All staff, governors and volunteers are expected to share this commitment. For more information please see our safeguarding policy which can be found under Key Information > Policies > Safeguarding Policy.
At St Gabriel’s RC Primary School, we ensure that all pupils are exposed to a broad and balanced curriculum. We follow the statutory National Curriculum through the delivery of enquiry-based topics. The topics are designed to engage and inspire the pupils and encourage cross curricular learning.
In addition to this we aim to develop the ‘whole child’. We firmly believe that the teaching of life skills is a fundamental part of education and is an essential part of preparing our pupils for the future. We offer pupils a chance to develop these skills through ‘Learning for Life’ workshops. These enrichment sessions take part every Friday afternoon and are linked to our behaviour policy. Pupils sign up for a workshop that will run for a half term. The courses are delivered by teachers, support staff and outside providers.
The school is always looking to expand the range of courses offered and we endeavour to provide a wide range of activities.
Some of the activities we have had on offer this term have been:
Gardening with Mrs Moran
Art with Miss Watson
Computing with Miss Coupe
Nurture to Nature with Miss Craddock
Ball Skills with Mrs Clegg
Fun Science with Mrs Whittaker
Healthy Lifestyles with Mr Jeffery
Local History with Miss Slack
Keep visiting our site for regular updates and photographs of our children enjoying their Friday sessions. Keep an eye out on some new and exciting life-skills that will be on offer for our wonderful children to develop and nurture.
