St Gabriel’s RC Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All staff, governors and volunteers are expected to share this commitment. For more information please see our safeguarding policy which can be found under Key Information > Policies > Safeguarding Policy.
At St Gabriel’s RC Primary School, we ensure that all pupils are exposed to a broad and balanced curriculum. We follow the statutory National Curriculum through the delivery of enquiry based topics. The topics are designed to engage and inspire the pupils and encourage cross curricular learning.
In addition to this we aim to develop the ‘whole child’. We firmly believe that the teaching of life skills is a fundamental part of education and is an essential part of preparing our pupils for the future. We offer pupils a chance to develop these skills through ‘Learning for Life’ workshops. These enrichment sessions take part every Wednesday afternoon. Pupils sign up for a workshop that will run for a half term. The courses are delivered by teachers, support staff and outside providers.
The school is always looking to expand the range of courses offered and we endeavour to provide a wide range of activities.
Some examples of groups are:
Engineering: planning and constructing models with a range of media.
Horticulture: creating a prayer garden in school grounds.
Art: sketch skills for display around school.
Sewing: creating projects to take home (pillows).
Cooking: a range of culinary skills used weekly.
Film club: creating a film for the website.
Keep Fit: a range of sporting activities.
