St Gabriel’s Roman Catholic Primary School

Produce

In September, we raised funds for our eco projects in school. We asked all of the children in school to bring in an apple. We washed, chopped, froze, thawed, ground and pressed the apples into the most delicious apple juice in the world! We next held a stall on the playground at the end of the day and raised a massive £25! What is more, we even managed to freeze the leftover apple juice to enjoy as ice lollies on St Gabriel's Feast Day.

Thanks go to the following:

  • Bamford Road Allotment Society for loaning us the apple press.
  • Mr Golding's parents who delivered the press and picked it up at the end of the day.
  • Our kitchen staff who loaned us the freezer space and gave us LOTS of jelly pots.
  • Our teachers - especially Miss Hughes - for the lolly sticks.
  • Everyone in our wonderful community who either sent in an apple or bought some apple juice.

Thanks to all of you, we will have some new strawberry and rhubarb plants growing in our school grounds very soon!
