Tuesday 26th Jan

PLEASE NOTE: THERE WILL BE NO LIVE LESSON TODAY. Live lessons will resume as usual on Wednesday.

Morning Activity

Spend 15 minutes on Hit the Button working on the speed of your times tables recall.

Weekly Spellings

Complete these activities below linked to this week’s spellings. Remember to watch Monday’s power point spelling presentation first if you haven’t already done so. Remember that if you can't print these out, then write down the answers in your home-learning workbooks.

English

This week we will be continuing our work on explanation and explanatory texts.

Using yesterday's example text and possible sentence starters (attached), I would like you to try writing your own explanation text.

Possible ideas are given in the attached document.

Reading Journal Activity

Each day this week, you will be given a short text and comprehension on how to care for a range of animals. Choose an appropriate level of challenge. (Remember that one star is the most straightforward and three stars means the text and questions are more challenging.)

You may either print out the appropriate answer sheet or simply write the answers in your home-learning book.

Maths

This week’s Maths is all about area. The power point will take you through each step and then there is a worksheet to complete. If you would like any extra work or information on this, then check out Oak Academy (Year 4 Maths – Area).

I have also included a quick starter and a true or false reasoning activity.

MyOn

Remember to keep up with your reading for at least 30 minutes a day. Well done to all of those pupils who are completing quizzes regularly and working towards their Spring target. It is good to see that most pupils are now building up points towards their target every week.

Design and Technology

For the next three weeks, we are going to look at a bridge building challenge.

Today, I would like you to watch the presentation and take notes on the four different kinds of bridges. You may also draw diagrams if it helps you to understand.
