Wednesday 27th Jan

Morning Activity

For your morning activity, choose from the following:

  1. Repeat the 180 times tables sheet from Monday
  2.  Spend 15 minutes on Hit the Button
  3. Spend 15 minutes on TT Rockstars
  4. Practise this week’s spellings

Grammar Activity

There are two short grammar activities to complete – one for Wednesday and one for Thursday. These can be printed out, answered in books or simply discussed.

This week we will be continuing our work on explanation and explanatory texts.

Today's task is to try to edit and redraft an explanation so that it does not sound like a set of instructions and so that it uses a range of time adverbials.

If you are joining today's live lesson, we will be looking at this together.

Reading Journal Activity

Each day this week, you will be given a short text and comprehension on how to care for a range of animals. Choose an appropriate level of challenge. (Remember that one star is the most straightforward and three stars means the text and questions are more challenging.)

You may either print out the appropriate answer sheet or simply write the answers in your home-learning book.

This week’s Maths is all about area. The power point will take you through each step and then there is a worksheet to complete. If you would like any extra work or information on this, then check out Oak Academy (Year 4 Maths – Area).

I have also included a quick starter and a true or false reasoning activity.

Remember to keep up with your reading for at least 30 minutes a day. Well done to all of those pupils who are completing quizzes regularly and working towards their Spring target. It is good to see that most pupils are now building up points towards their target every week.

For this week’s Geography, I have given you some challenges linked to map work. Answers are included so that you can check your work. You could also try researching map symbols on the Internet. You may choose one of these activities or have a go at all three.
