Live lesson. You will need to complete questions 11 - 20.

Click on the link. Choose Year 5 and 6 and play the games for Spelling Rule 37. (10 minutes practice maximum)

Write a persuasive speech on one of the following topics:

  • As Ivar the Boneless persuading his Viking army to fight.
  • As King Aella persuading the Anglo-Saxons to fight
  • As any Viking god to persuade the other gods to do something
  • As yourself to persuade the government to change the laws on social media
  • As yourself to persuade people why schools should or should not return soon

Remember our previous learning on persuasive speeches and what is important to include - emotive language, rhetorical questions, modal verbs, facts, repetition, a good opening statement (remember the Greta Thunberg speech we looked at and how she began her speech)

Think about what you are persuading others to do - what do you want from them? Remember who your audience is and sound formal.
