Spellings will be in each child's homework book. I have organised it so all children will have their spellings in their books and can keep track of which ones they are getting correct or getting wrong. Please practice with your child at home and make sure you make a note of the spellings, as homework is due in on Wednesdays, but our spelling test is on Friday.

There will also be surprise spelling tests given to children who have made mistakes in their test. Please make sure you continue practising these with your child.

We've been working out how to measure area and perimeter using the meter sticks. We went outside and enjoyed a sunny active maths lesson

In our English we have been reading Mr Mumbles. We discussed the thoughts and feelings of the characters and then did a role play debate as the characters.

We have been learning about electricity. We have made electrical circuits to test if they were complete or incomplete and then tested materials to see if they were conductors or insulators.

This week we have been looking at Judaism. We have learned about the Torah and how it is made. We have looked at Bar and Bat Mitzvah's and designed a card. We even tried writing Mazel Tov in Hebrew!

Year 4 have been designing their own instruction posters on First Aid. We have also been improving instructions to make them better. 

In our Topic of Anglo Saxons, we learned about crime and punishment. We learned about wergild, which was a for of compensation to victims. We thought about what could have happened in a situation and had to work out the wergild we had to pay to our partner in shillings. We had lots of fun doing this.

We experimented using different drinks to see the effect it has onour teeth. We used eggs to represent our teeth and left the in different drinks for a few days. We then looked at what the sugar had done to our eggs...some were not a pretty sight!! ����

We started our Roman Topic by being invaded by Year 3. We discussed what it felt like to be invaded by another class and then compared it to how other people felt when they were invaded by the Romans.

We studied Roman artefacts and learned about what Romans used then and how it differs to what we use today.

Year 4 have started to create our own Roman pottery. We have had an artist in to help us make our clay models.

Year 4 have become journalists for the first part of our term. We had a journalist come in during an afternoon as our special guest visitor. We looked at famous newspaper headlines and front pages, and browsed through lots of news reports.

Using our class novel The Iron Man we created our own newspaper reports.

We got into journalist mode by using role-play to become the journalist and the eye-witness.
