Spelling homework and tests have been introduced this half term.  Spelling is a very important skill that enables your child to progress with their writing.  The less time and effort that has to be given to spelling, the more time and thought can be put into the content of their writing.

There are common exception words that children need to be able to read and spell, these are taught during phonics lessons.  There is a copy of these at the front of your child’s homework book and a link on the main section of our class page on the school website.

Spelling homework will consist of words to enable your child to develop their phonics strategies.  A word list will be given out on a Friday, the homework should be completed and handed in the following Wednesday as this is when the spelling test will take place.  Please find attached some useful spelling strategies, games and websites that you can do as an addition to support your child.  Scores will be reported back to parents with the next set of homework.

Please ensure that your child takes care with their presentation and letter forming when completing their homework so that they maintain their high standards both at home and in school.
