Year 6

Friday 4th November 2016—Year 6

Statement to Live By:

I try to stand up for myself and others without hurting others.

Through words, drama, video, prayers and singing, Year 6 explored this statement to live by. We tried to show people when to go TO help someone and when to go FOR help. In addition to this, we tried to demonstrate a safe, assertive technique that we can use to stand up for ourselves. We showed how Jesus stood up for   others and how people throughout history, such as Mother Theresa, Maximillian Kolbe and Martin Luther King Jr have followed his teaching. We challenged the other classes to suggest role models. Who would your role model be? Who shows you how to stand up for people’s rights in a positive way?

Welcome to our Year 6 page. Here we will share with you the learning that takes place within our year group: we hope you enjoy perusing our page!

Homework

In line with school policy, Year 6 homework is given out on Friday and needs to be returned on the following Wednesday.  During Autumn our Maths homework will consist of re-enforcement of work covered in class, along with some thinking challenges. English will be based on topic work, our class novel (Kenzuke's Kingdom) and the practising of grammar skills.
