Welcome to Year 6.

We hope that the information on this page will be useful to you in this important year.

As well as the usual newsletters, homework sheets and word lists, you will also find sections on the forthcoming SATs and our Residential Trip to Robinwood, which will be updated as the year progresses.

PE

Please note PE days for Year 6 in Spring are Thursdays and Fridays.

Homework

In Year 6, children are expected to read in school and at home on a daily basis. Reading books may be changed as soon as they are completed. Children who have reached the end of the reading scheme should select a book from our school or class library. Books from home may also be read during DEAR time.

Times tables Rock Stars should be accessed on a weekly basis. All children have been re-issued with passwords. Practising tables regularly helps with speed and accuracy in calculation.

In their homework books, children have lists of key spellings for Years 5 to 6, along with Knowledge Organisers for Maths and topic work. These again should be used on a weekly basis. Parental help in quizzing children on the content of these Knowledge Organisers is greatly appreciated.

In English, we are currently working on non-chronological reports.

KS2 SATs Timetable for 2020

The key stage 2 tests are timetabled from Monday 11 May to Thursday 14 May 2020.

During the Autumn and Spring terms  small-group after school Maths Booster sessions will arranged for all children.

During Spring 2 a Grammar revision session will be offered to all.

Robinwood

The date of the Year 6 Residential is Monday 6th to Wednesday 8th July.

Letters will be sent home soon with more information.
