Year 2 2015-2016

Welcome to Year Two’s Page!

Here you will find out some of the things that we have been getting up to and some useful information to help your child.  We love to share and celebrate our learning experiences.  This page will help us to do that.  Please check back again soon for more updates.

Miss Watson and Year 2

We have been reading ‘The Bog Baby’ by Jeanne Willis and Gwen Millward.  This inspired us to make our very own Bog Babies out of modelling clay.

The very next day, our cheeky Bog Babies had disappeared!  We later found that they had been playing in foundation stage! Mrs Fallon sent them straight back to our class when she found them.  Have a look at what they got up to on their adventure in the slide show below.

We are going to use this book and our Bog Babies to write an explanation text on ‘how to care for a bog baby’ so that if anybody else finds them, they will know what to do!

Our Bog Babies on an adventure!

British Values Week

We enjoyed learning about the 5 British Values. These are:

democracy
the rule of law
individual liberty
mutual respect
tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs

Homework

Please listen to your child read daily and sign their reading record.  They are given reading books from school but you can also add in any extra reading materials your child enjoys from home.

A maths and writing/spelling activity will be given out each Friday, this is to be completed and returned to school the following Wednesday.

Please encourage your child to complete homework as this will help to reinforce the learning that we have been doing during the week.

The following document shows the words that children are expected to read and spell by the end of Key Stage 1. Please look through this and encourage your child to use this word mat when completing their homework.
