Active Citizens Award

At St Gabriel’s RC Primary School, we ensure that all pupils are exposed to a broad and balanced curriculum. Our topics are designed to engage and inspire the pupils and encourage cross curricular learning.

In addition to this we aim to develop the ‘whole child’. We firmly believe that the teaching of life skills is a fundamental part of education and is an essential part of preparing our pupils for the future. We therefore offer the Active Citizens Award, whereby our children can achieve the award every year and collect the different badges throughout their school life.

The award is designed to celebrate and acknowledge the positive social changes that children are making and help them progress with life skills as they develop and grow.

This award is designed to build children’s character, confidence and resilience.  The award is progressive with increasing commitment, learning and challenge at each level.

Each Year group award is based on 4 areas: healthy lifestyles, adventures, learning about themselves and helping others.

The activities can be completed as part of the curriculum and outside of school on their own or with family members.

This is a year-long programme so children have plenty of time to complete the activities.  Children who complete all the activities throughout the year receive their Active Citizen Award at the end of the school year.
